Advanced Legal Aspects for Code Administration, Building Officials, & Inspectors – Virtual Training

This course covers the terminology, concepts, and principles of legal issues that affect building officials and inspectors in the administration of their duties.
It will assist the building official or inspector, or persons interested in said discipline in understanding the legal concepts related to the model building codes.
The course will address the specific legal issues that building officials and inspectors face in carrying out their duties and will focus on administrative issues such as the permit, inspection, plan review and appeal processes as well as enforcement issues including stop work orders, notices of violation, and complaints.
Writing administrative search warrants and legal issues and liability specific to building officials and inspectors will also be covered.
Instructor Biography
Linda S. Pieczynski is a former assistant state’s attorney and municipal prosecutor in DuPage County, Illinois.
She devotes her legal practice to teaching and writing about the legal aspects of code administration including building, property maintenance, fire and zoning codes.
For over 10 years, she has conducted training nationwide, is an author of numerous code related books and has served as editor of revisions to the Legal Aspects of Code Administration published by ICC.
